Modifying an ekmPowershop template

It is possible to modify our existing templates, so if there is a template that you like, but there’s just one or two aspect of the template that you do not like and want to change, you can do so very easily provided you have some basic HTML knowledge.

Settings menu

Select to use a custom design and you will be presented with two further options;

Settings menu

If you select “I wish to use my own custom design”, you will be taken to the WYSIWYG editor or plain text editor selection screen, which gives you the chance to build your template from scratch. What we want to do however is click “I wish to modify an existing ekmPowershop template”, which takes you through to the template selection page;

Settings menu

Now just select the template that takes your fancy, and you will be taken to a confirm selection screen;

Screen settings

It is important to note that not all of the templates contain the same features and side areas. So for example, while one template may have 5 areas for promotional offers, another will only have 1 or 2.

When changing templates, be aware that if the new template you are selecting does not contain some of the side areas that your previous template had, then the side areas will be lost, and cannot be recovered. So, if you have entered any custom code into the side areas, make sure that you back the code up to a text document, so that you can quickly re-insert the code to the new template.

Also, any colours that you have specified for the template you already have will not carry across, as again, not all of the templates will use the same colour values, so make sure to backup all the colours that you have chosen if you want to keep your current colour scheme, but just go for a new look.

Once you are confident that you will not lose any important information, click on “Yes, apply the template”, and you are taken to the WYSIWYG or plain text editor selection page;

Screen settings

Select to use the plain text editor and you are then presented with the source code for the template that you have chosen.

You can now copy the code into your HTML editor, and modify it to your hearts content!
